We currently live in this house. Very keen to find out some further history of the property should anyone know of anyone that previously resided here. Thank you

My great aunt Jessie Burkin was a housemaid at High Trees, Redhill, Surrey and is mentioned in the 1911 census. Would this be the house?

I think this photo was from the sale brochure when Mr & Mrs Elliot-Pyle bought High Trees to house Dunottar School in the 1930s. I was a pupil from 1947 until 1956 and the topiary hedges etc on the terrace had long gone by 1947, much as the picture listed as 1965.

This picture must relate to some time after mid 1950s. There would seem to be a second hard tennis court on the left below the terrace. Which wasn't there in my day (1947-56). The bell housing on the clock tower was removed around 1950.

The name of the founder of Dunottar School was Mrs Jessie Elliot-Pyle. Mis-spelling of her name. They had not purchased High Trees House at that time, th school was elsewhere in Reigate.

Is this the entrance to Redhill Common from High Trees Road?

This is indeed High Trees Road leading to Redhill Common. I walked up this road to St. John's School on many occasions, as I lived in Cockshot Road, Reigate, and very often being soaked by rain or cold with the snow, and school was no warmer. My time at that school was from 1944 to 1950. My maiden surname was Beard.
