Beautiful colour photograph of a London Midland Region-based Black 5 but shown the wrong way round! The excursion train is probably bound for to or from Brighto, originating in the Midlands or northern home counties Comment 2

Roger is correct, it is an Inter-Regional train, probably bound for Brighton and emanating from the London Midland Region. From the white reporting board shown on the front it looks like an excursion rather than a scheduled service. |
